Tentative Program:

The format of the workshop is expected to be the one in which the talks by the attendees are intermixed with round table discussions moderated around topics. The short talks would primarily serve to shortly elaborate a subject that would merit a joint, multifaceted investigation within the expertise of the participants (this base may be further widened if needed). Longer talks may be scheduled if desired or thought necessary.

The rough division of subjects is

  • Homogenous crystalline materials (the emerging physics in various low-D/layered materials as are traditionally cuprates, pnictides, dichalcogenides and layered organics).
These materials may have separate subsections if subject dictates. Instabilities such as CDW/SDW/SC are included in this part.

  • Spontaneous nano-structuring in otherwise homogenous systems (beyond single component density waves); Nano-patterned materials, artificial structures - ordered systems, or disordered composite materials.

9:00

Opening

The organizers give a short intro to the meeting, its scope and targets. Presentations of the groups and researchers are involved.

9:15

Session I – Intro statements

The participants are invited to give short statements in which they present their laboratories, the interests that guide their current research, and hopes for the further developments of these interests, especially in the sense of profiting from the collaboration and complementary methods. These statements are supposed to be rather short, 5-7 minutes per contributor. Longer contributions are invited for Session II.

Sessions II – Round table discussions
(Lunch-break: 13:00 – 15:00)

This session extends through several successive sub-sections. Each sub-section centres on one or more closely related subjects that may be advisable for future research. In particular, the participants are invited to advertise the implications of their previous/recent work and insights, and consider the momentum that these may gain through additional, complementary investigations. For this part the participants are encouraged to advertise in advance their contributions with the organizers. The contributions will be grouped and delivered in the introduction of respective sections, formed accordingly. No special prescription exists for the length of these contributions – they may range from very short of few minutes in lengths, to ten or more minutes, if necessary. The emphasis is on importance, feasibility and profit from the collaboration. These contributions will be followed by round table discussions, mostly in the direction of widening the base of feasible subjects, and strengthening the feasibility of those proposed. (Convergence is postponed for the next day)

10:30

Session III - On convergence

This session will mirror in part the previous one. The synthesis of the sub-sessions of the previous day will be called for, after the informal discussions that may have followed afterwards. The idea of the session/sub-sessions is to synthesize the most promising of the discussions of the previous day, and to further strengthen these additional ideas, through calling for additional parties, and formal project ideas.

13:00-15:00

Lunch

15:00

Session IV - Short summary

This is to present a short list of the discussed projects, propose one or few for further development, propose the coordination steps/flow in future months. The coordinators may be named, entitled to further develop the communication, collaboration and possible project proposals.
